Juvenile Justice

The Office of the Territorial Public Defender represents juveniles under the age of nineteen that are accused of crimes under the Virgin Islands Code. We endeavor to protect the minors right's and guide them through the juvenile justice system. We also work with juveniles that are being transferred to and prosecuted in the adult justice system. This process generally occurs for major felonies. Juveniles as young as 14 years of age can be transferred to the adult system.

In a progressive move, the Office of the Territorial Public Defender has recently partnered with the Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance to integrate advanced digital tools into their advocacy and representation strategies. This collaboration aims to leverage cutting-edge technology for better monitoring and support of juveniles, both in the juvenile and adult justice systems, enhancing the effectiveness of legal representation and the potential for rehabilitation.
